Top picks from our sale

It’s not an easy time of year, whether you’re attempting to conjure up the motivation to ride your bike or just to get out of bed in the morning. By some cruel twist of alchemy, January always seems to last not one but several months, and the promise of pro racing’s return to our screens is small comfort, especially for those of us confined to the cold, wet and windy conditions of the northern hemisphere. But there’s still reason to celebrate: The Bicycle Chain has a cracking sale online and in store!

Here are our top picks.

Get the kids going

With half term fast approaching, what better time to equip the kids with a new set of wheels. We’ve got a good few top models in our sale to suit riders of literally all sizes, from the Cuda pedal bike, complete with stabilisers, to the Frog Team Sky edition road bike for the future Tour de France champ.

Turbo power your ride

The cycling world just can’t stop talking about e-bikes these days. Pedal-assist technology has pervaded even the pro ranks with some of your favourite road cyclists taking full advantage of a battery and motor to extend their off-season adventures. Our e-bike selection is extensive, ranging from the get-about-town bikes (see below) to top-notch road models like the Trek Domane+.

Beat the urban sprawl

Folding bikes have been a tentpole of cycle commuting for decades, making the urban environment far more manageable, particularly for those whose commutes incorporate a mix of pedalling and public transport. What’s more, opting for a folding bike means that you don’t have to worry about locking up your pride and joy – you can just fold it up and stow it under your desk. And what about a folding e-bike? Yes, please.

Off-road adventure

What’s great about mountain bikes is they carry no seasonal exclusivity – there is literally no time of year when a MTB is ‘not suitable’, not like the most expensive carbon road bikes which balk at the first sign of grit. You couldn’t ask for a better selection of MTBs in our sale, suited to riders of all disciplines, with full-sus and hardtail included, and all budgets accounted for too.

Hit the open “groad”

If you’ve missed the gravel craze, you’ve got a treat in store. This newest – and at the same time oldest – of disciplines offers the greatest freedom you could ever ask for on the bike, and a community that is more welcoming than any other in the cycling world. The industry for dedicated gravel-munching frames – somewhere between a road and touring bike – is growing faster (probably) than any other, and a few gravel/adventure bikes feature in our sale. We’ve chucked a cheeky cyclocross bike into this category too because why not kill two birds with one stone and sort yourself out with a multi-disciplinary workhorse?

Good old-fashioned road performance

Last but not least is the trusty road bike, of which we naturally have dozens available. And there’s something for everyone too, from the entry-level alloy frames to the very best carbon models that you can see between the legs of the best cyclists in the world. We’ve also got a selection of bikes from Allied Cycle Works at prices that really can’t be missed.

Bells and whistles

Rounding out our sale, we have a healthy assortment of clothing available at slashed prices, including a good selection of waterproof jackets in anticipation of spring showers.

If you’re sorting yourself out with a new bike, don’t forget to protect your noggin with one of our temptingly priced helmets. It’s worth remembering that even the most high-performance helmets can degrade over time, so if you’ve been riding around with the same lid for much longer than three years, it might be time for an upgrade.

We’ve also got a whole load of accessories on sale, including baggage for your next adventure, a selection of powerful lights for all you commuters and the much-loved Wahoo Elemnt GPS computer.

That’s it for our top sale picks, but we have of course only scratched the surface of our whole sale range. Be sure to have a browse and, as always, feel free to come on into one of our stores and see the products in the flesh.
