Drawing from extensive lab-designed and real-world testing, DT Swiss engineers have unveiled an impressive 30mm wide carbon rim design. This latest update in the Spline series carries its legacy forward by delivering advanced balancing capacity along with significant weight reduction.
As the powerhouse within this range, the EXC model draws its influence from the demanding environment of the Enduro World Series. It's built for high-impact riding, offering superior resilience for those daring descents without adding unnecessary weight when it's time to charge back uphill.
At the heart of this wheel system are the new Ratchet EXP 240 hubs ? the most reliable, lightweight 240 hubs ever crafted by DT Swiss. Boasting fewer internal moving parts, the Ratchet EXP improves bearing life, reduces drag, and enhances overall stiffness, all the while allowing for tool-free servicing and on-the-go maintenance, if needed.
Aiding in weight reduction, Swiss-made Comp Race spokes are delicately butted down to 1.6mm. Lighter and more adjustable, they provide a smoother ride, offsetting the added rigidity that comes with a carbon rim. This is yet another advantage of having the entire wheel system designed and manufactured in-house.
The wheel comes with Shimano MICRO SPLINE and SRAM XD freehubs, tubeless tape, and premium lightweight tubeless valves when bought as a pair. The maximum recommended system weight is 130KG. The EXC 1501 rear wheel weighs 849 grams for the 27.5 inch model, and 917 grams for the 29 inch variant.
