We carefully examined every aspect of the Tarmac, from the layup schedules to the materials used, and even the forks. With this revamp, we also updated the geometry based on extensive data points and input from professional riders. The result is a Performance Road Geometry that combines a responsive front-end and short wheelbase for instant response and optimal power transfer.Stiffness is crucial, but compliance is also important for a quality ride. That's why we dropped the seatstays and changed the seat tube shape. We also increased the tyre clearance up to 30mm, allowing for lower pressures and ultimately more comfort, decreased rolling resistance, and increased traction. These additions maintain the Tarmac's race-machine performance while providing a smoother ride on rough roads.So, why disc brakes? The question should be, "why not?" Disc brakes offer superior braking power and modulation, perform exceptionally well in wet weather, and add only a minimal amount of weight. This means more control and increased confidence while riding.Aerodynamic improvements are also crucial for speed, and our Bora-Hansgrohe and Quick-Step Floors Pro Tour riders demand them. In designing the Tarmac, we aimed to add aero benefits without compromising the Tarmac's core design. After a six-month iterative process, we identified three areas where we could achieve this an updated fork shape and dropped seatstays with aero tubes.The Men's Tarmac Disc Comp comes with a no-fuss specification that includes Shimano Ultegra mechanical shifting, quick-stopping hydraulic disc brakes, and durable DT R470 Disc wheels.
