Our design process began with a focus on achieving a low overall weight. By utilizing the information and technology available to us, we were able to determine the weight we could achieve. With this weight as our target, we then shifted our attention to aerodynamics.Through an iterative process involving the design and testing of over 150 individual rims, we were able to discover the optimal shape. Countless Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models, hours in the Win Tunnel, and numerous shots of espresso later, we settled on a 32mm-deep shape that has undergone more wind tunnel testing than any other wheel in its category.Having found the most aerodynamic shape at the 32-millimeter depth, we returned to our focus on weight. We experimented with over 40 different layup methods to achieve our desired weight. As a result, the CLX 32 Disc now stands as the lightest and fastest wheel in its class.For the front wheel of the CLX 32 Disc, we combined the rim with our Aero Flange (AF) series hub and DT Swiss Aero spokes. This created a high-performing system that delivers exceptional results. The front wheel weighs 610 grams, has a 21mm-wide internal width, and boasts an impressively low inertia value. Lower inertia values make for a more responsive wheel, enabling easier acceleration, deceleration, and direction changes. The wider rim width offers several advantages. Firstly, it provides increased structural strength. Additionally, it allows for a clean interface between the rim and tire when using wider tires, resulting in improved aerodynamics and faster rolling. Lastly, the wider rim supports the tire during hard cornering, offering predictable grip and boosting confidence on descents.Each front wheel also features legendary CeramicSpeed bearings and comes complete with a padded wheelbag, quick-release skewer, tubeless plugs, and a tubeless valve.
